Aviva and Dan Markush met and married in Israel. They moved to the United States in 1989 where their five children attended Gindi Maimonides Academy and Emek Hebrew Academy. They joined the Valley Torah family in 1994 when their oldest child, Nufar, enrolled in VTHS, and all of their children are proud graduates of Valley Torah. In Dan's memory, Aviva and her children are creating the Dan Markush Memorial Scholarship Fund to continue his legacy of commitment to Torah education and community leadership.
Nufar Markush R'bibo ('98)
is a nurse and a full-time mother and daughter. Nufar and her husband, Leon, have seven children, two of which are current Valley Torah students.
Dr. Dor Markush ('01)
is a pediatric cardiologist and the Director of the Pediatric Cardiology Outpatient Clinic at Cedars-Sinai Hospital. Dor and his wife, Lissie, are the proud parents of five boys.
Omer Markush ('02)
is the Athletic Director of Yeshiva Aharon Yaakov Ohr Eliyahu. In addition, Omer is the Founder and Director of Coach's Sports Camp. Omer and Nikki (née Lipman ['03]) have five children.
Barr Markush Traube ('07)
and her husband, Yosef, live in Karmiel in Northern Israel. Barr is an Outpatient Pediatric Nurse in the Kupat Cholim Klalit in Karmiel. Barr and Yosef have four children.
David Markush ('10)
follows the family tradition of care for the next generation as a Teacher's Assistant and PE instructor at the Spivak Educational Center and as a Director at Coach's Sports Camp.
